Peace initiatives driving global understanding and sustainable development
"My commitment to human rights, climate change and poverty-related issues like the Millennium Development Goals are a part of Mironda's DNA and will continue to be its source of strength for generations to come"
-- Mr. Sitaram Sharma / Founder
At the heart of our work lies a deep commitment to services, to uplift community, empower the underprivileged and build a more compassionate society. We work across sectors on Education, Healthcare, Environment, Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies. Our social responsibility efforts are driven personally by our Chairman Mr. Sitaram Sharma, in collaboration with Dwarkadas Sitaram Sharma Trust, West Bengal Federation of United Nations Associations and lately with TIPS – The Tagore Institute of Peace Studies, focusing on Peace and Sustainable Development. There can not be development without Peace and no peace without development. As the former US President Dwight Eisenhower said “Peace and Development are the two sides of the same coin.”

A Think Tank engaged in Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies
TIPS
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's message "There is no way to peace; peace is the way" that appears below his bronze bust in the United Nations, WEBFUNA - the West Bengal Federation of United Nations Associations, an NGO devoted to the promotion of principles and purposes of the United Nations, as enunciated in its Charter, has taken an initiative to set up the Tagore Institute of Peace Studies (TIPS).
TIPS will explore the non-violent route to conflict resolution and seek to build skills for careers devoted to creating a more peaceful and just world. TIPS' mission is to impart quality education and conduct research in Peace Studies, to train future diplomats and community leaders in the areas of environment, development, international law and communications.
These studies will be aligned to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 relating to Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
To examine peace-building in the context of the current challenges to world peace and security climate, and to develop a core group of knowledgeable, ethical and skilled professionals to lead transformative and sustainable change in local and global peace and development efforts.
According to the IMF, India's GDP will surpass US$ 30 trillion by 2050. Peace is a prerequisite to achieve this kind of growth; hence, peace education. As the former President of UN General Assembly Amb Jan Eliasson said, "Without Peace there is no development and without development there is no peace."
To quote the US President Dwight Eisenhower, "Peace and Development are the two sides of the same coin."
Building a culture of peace through education and understanding
Operating through a global network of academic institutions
Training diplomats and community leaders for tomorrow
Family trust engaged in philanthropic activities.
We are happy to share that since the founding of the Trust we have been able to assist more than 75 students.
With the lifelong dedication to humanitarian work, our Chairman set up the family Trust – Dwarkadas Sitaram Sharma Trust, almost simultaneously with the launching of our Mironda Group of Companies. Since then a certain percentage of our income, following the family traditions, we have been putting aside in the Trust for charitable purposes. Thereby accumulating a substantial Corpus Fund for charities. The Trust has been mainly engaged in educational support – Scholarships, Tuition Fees, School Kits and Stipends etc. particularly for higher education for meritorious and needy students. We always believed in “service is not charity – it is a responsibility. We rise by lifting others is our motto.”
